Located just 5 minutes from the Biggera Creek boat ramp at Runaway Bay, Wavebreak Island is a popular destination for boaties due to its sheltered anchorage.
The island offers a fantastic place to relax for a day trip, with vast marine life for snorkelers along its breakwalls.
For the keen fishermen, there are plenty of yabby banks along the western foreshore and on Carter's Banks just 100m north of the island. Throwing a line in with a livebait off the breakwalls will put you in the draw for anything from a golden trevally through to a mulloway due to its proximity to the Southport Seaway.
South Currigee, South Stradbroke Island
Located less than 10 minutes from the Biggera Creek boat ramp at Runaway Bay, South Currigee (Roes Kamp) on South Stradbroke Island offers camping inside a pristine national park. The facilities include hot showers, toilets, electric BBQs, and a playground for the kids. Access to the electric barbeques for day trippers incurs a small fee payable to the onsite national park rangers.

A short stroll across the narrowest part of South Stradbroke Island will bring you to a magnificent secluded sandy surf beach offering fantastic fishing in permanent gutters all along the island.
North Currigee, South Stradbroke Island
Located 10 minutes from the Biggera Creek boat ramp at Runaway Bay, North Currigee Campground lies on a small inlet on South Stradbroke Island which offers a very safe anchorage for small craft. The facilities include hot showers, toilets, a playground for the kids, and a floating pontoon which may be used for loading and unloading of camp gear and passengers. A less than ten minute stroll will bring you to the surf beach from this location.

Couran, a canal system on South Stradbroke Island which has two resorts open to the public, Couran Cove and Couran Point, is just 20 minutes away from the Paradise Point boat ramp, 30 minutes the Biggera Creek boat ramp, or just 6 minutes from the Diamond Head boat ramp.

Tippler's Passage provides good catches of whiting and sand crabs / blue swimmers. Mud crabs are easily found around the Never Fail Islands too.
20 minutes from Jacob's Well public boat ramp, 30 minutes from the Paradise Point public ramp, or 45 minutes from Gold Coast Boat Hire's premises at Runaway Bay, the waters of Jumpinpin are famous for its winter bream run and plentiful catches of other species including tailor, flathead and whiting.
Millionaire's Row, given its name due to the numerous quality vessels attracted to the calm anchorage, is a fantastic place to visit for the day for a family picnic along the white sandy western foreshore of South Stradbroke Island.
The Bedrooms is another favourite campground for locals, however it is temporarily closed for campers at the moment.
The waters of Jumpinpin, where southern Moreton Bay meets the Southport Broadwater, are a pristine marine habitat which harbours a prolific amount of marine life.
