Wave Break Island

Located just five nautical miles from Paradise Point, Wave Break Island is a popular destination for boaties due to its sheltered anchorage. The island offers a fantastic place to relax for a day trip, with vast marine life for snorkellers along its breakwalls. For the keen fishermen, there are plenty of yabby banks along the western foreshore and on Carter's Banks just 100m north of the island. Throwing a line in with a livebait off the breakwalls will put you in the draw for anything from a golden trevally through to a mulloway due to its proximity to the Southport Seaway.

South Stradbroke Island Campgrounds

There are three camping grounds on South Stradbroke Island - South Currigee campground, North Currigee campground, and Tipplers campground. Every camping ground has undercover eating areas, toilets, and hot showers. South Currigee campground and Tipplers campground also have gas BBQs, which are also made available for day visitors for just $3 per adult (kids are free) - perfect for a picnic during your boat hire! Located at Paradise Point, Sovereign Islands boats the most exclusive real estate on the Gold Coast with multi-million dollar waterfront mansions overlooking the pristine Broadwater.

Sanctuary Cove

30 minutes upstream from Sovereign Islands along the southern arm of the Coomera River cruising slowly at 6 knots, Sanctuary Cove is famous for its waterfront residences, international golf course, five star international hotel, restaurants, and boutique shopping in a relaxed marine atmosphere. The southern arm of the Coomera River provides good catches of mangrove jack in the canals, whilst the northern arm of the river, junctioned at Sanctuary Cove, is a magnificent mangrove lined river system which provides plentiful flathead, bream, and mudcrab .

Tipplers Licensed Cafe

Just five nautical miles from Paradise Point, Tipplers Licensed Cafe on South Stradbroke Island in the tranquil waters of Tipplers Passage is undoubtedly the most favourite boating destination for Gold Coast boaties. The licensed cafe has a restaurant and bar with live entertainment, great coffee, and delicious food at very reasonable prices. Check out the Tippler Cafe menu here. Upclose encounters with native fauna including wallabies, bandicoots, goannas, and kookaburras are a daily occurrence. A kiosk is adjacent which sells all the handy essentials including bait. The largest campground on South Stradbroke Island, Tipplers Campground, is just a couple hundred metres south of the cafe. Tipplers Cafe is a wonderful place to relax after fishing Tippers Passage, which provides good catches of whiting and sand crabs / blue swimmers.
